Two lighter vessels collided in Tajumuddin, Bhola; Coast Guard rescues 13 crew members from damaged lighter vessel stranded in the marshes. Coast Guard Media Officer Lt. He said, today, Tuesday, October 20, 2025, at 2 am, a lighter ship named ‘MV Umme Habiba’ collided with another lighter ship ‘MV Modern Marine-19’ in the area adjacent to Lal Ghat Island, Barisal Bazar under Tajumuddin police station in Bhola. At that time, the bottom of the ‘MV Modern Marine-19’ lighter ship burst and water entered, causing the ship to lose control and get stuck in the sea. Later, the ship’s crew took refuge in the Coast Guard.
Based on the information received, a rescue team from Coast Guard Station Ramgati quickly reached the spot and was able to safely rescue 13 crew members. The rescued crew members were handed over to the owners.
He further said that Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such service operations in the future as well.
