He said, based on secret information, it is known that an unscrupulous gang will smuggle Yaba, alcohol and other narcotics from Myanmar to Bangladesh in exchange for Bangladeshi products. Based on the information received, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard ship Kamruzzaman in the sea area adjacent to St. Martin’s Cheradwip at 11 pm on September 18, 2025. During the operation, a suspicious fishing boat was searched in the area and 10,000 kg of pulses, 150,000 pieces of mosquito coils, 2,500 kg of garlic, 1,000 kg of testing salt, 10,000 pieces of Royal Tiger energy drinks, 2,500 kg of onions, along with 10 smugglers, were arrested for illegally smuggling to Myanmar by evading customs and taxes.
Further legal action against the seized goods, the boats used in smuggling, and the arrested smugglers is under process.
He also said that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent smuggling.
