A well-marked low-pressure area over the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea has moved west-northwest and is now positioned over the west-central Bay and adjoining east-central Bay, according to the latest weather bulletin. A well-marked low-pressure area over the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea has moved west-northwest and is now positioned over the west-central Bay and adjoining east-central Bay, according to the latest weather bulletin.

The system is likely to move further west-northwest and intensify, raising the possibility of squally weather over the North Bay, maritime ports and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

In the backdrop of the developing weather system, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra maritime ports have been asked to hoist local cautionary signal number 3.

All fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have also been advised to move closer to the coast and remain alert until further notice.

Meanwhile, no warning has been issued for inland river ports, and no signal is required to be hoisted there.

The inland river port advisory is valid from 3:00pm on September 21 until 1:00am on September 22.
