Inauguration of a Modern 4-Story Dak Bungalow in Shibchar
A modern 4-story Dak Bungalow (guesthouse) equipped with contemporary amenities has been inaugurated in Shibchar, Madaripur. The inauguration, certificate distribution, and financial aid ceremony—organized by the Zila Parishad—took place on Wednesday afternoon (October 21) on the grounds of the Dak Bungalow in Shibchar Municipality.
Md. Shahidul Hassan, Senior Secretary of the Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives, attended the event as the chief guest.
Presided over by Khandaker Mashukur Rahman, Administrator of the Madaripur Zila Parishad, the event featured Afzal Hossain Palash, Chairman of the Faridpur Zila Parishad, and H. M. Ibne Mizan, Shibchar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), as special guests.
In his address, Chief Guest Md. Shahidul Hassan reminisced about his childhood spent in the greater Faridpur region, including Shibchar. He expressed a firm commitment to strengthening the local government system and placing greater emphasis on rural development.
He noted that the government’s multifaceted development initiatives are driving rapid transformation within the rural economy and infrastructure.
Responding to a request from leaders and activists of the Shibchar Upazila BNP, he pledged to support the construction of a modern swimming pool and a playground for the younger generation. Furthermore, he urged all relevant stakeholders to install solar panels to promote eco-friendly power generation and the use of sustainable energy.
Attendees from the Shibchar Upazila BNP included Convener Shahadat Hossain Khan, former President Abu Jafar Chowdhury, BNP leader Nadira Akter Mithu Chowdhury, Upazila BNP Member Secretary Sohel Rana, Shibchar Municipal BNP Convener Abul Kalam Mallick, Senior Joint Convener Hemayet Hossain Khan, and Member Secretary Ajmal Huda Selim, alongside other local BNP members and representatives from its affiliated organizations. Following the discussion session and the certificate distribution ceremony, the chief guest planted a neem sapling on the premises of the the ‘dak bungalow’ (guest house).
