Hindu Women Receive Prime Minister’s Durga Puja Gifts
Hindu women in Bogura City Corporation and Bogura Sadar Upazila have received sarees gifted by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja. Metropolitan BNP organised a saree distribution programme at Central Shaheed Minar premises of Shaheed Khokon Park in the town on Sunday afternoon. BNP leaders handed over sarees to Hindu women as gifts from Prime Minister. Rezaul Karim Badsha MP, President of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Housing and Public Works, attended the inaugural programme as chief guest. The programme was presided over by Moniruzzaman Moni, General secretary of Metropolitan BNP. Bogura City Corporation Administrator M R Islam Shadhin, addressed the event as a special guest. Parimal Chandra Das, President of district Puja Celebration Council and former councillor, was also present.
Earlier in day, MP Rezaul Karim Badsha distributed sarees among a large number of Hindu women at separate programme held at Sadar Upazila Parishad premises. Maftun Ahmed Khan Rubel, Vice-president of Bogura District BNP and President of Sadar Upazila BNP, accompanied him at event. The programme was presided over by Bogura Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Abdul Wazed.
Among those present were District Mohila Dal Secretary Nazma Akter, Upazila project implementation officer Shamsunnahar Shiuli, Sadar Upazila BNP organisational secretary Atikur Rahman Atik, Joint secretaries Engineer Apel Mahmud, Shah Alam Jony, Rajibul Karim Rafi, publicity secretary Al-Amin Pesta. District Puja Celebration Front Member secretary Gour Chandra Poddar Chandan, Sadar Upazila Puja Celebration Front Convener and Mangala Union Jubo Dal President Bipul Karmakar, Sabgram Union Parishad chairman Farid Uddin Sarker, were also present.
The Hindu women expressed satisfaction at receiving Prime Minister’s gifts ahead of Sharadiya Durga Puja. Meanwhile, agricultural inputs were distributed among 1,000 farmers at programme organised by NCC Bank PLC at Mohasthan in Shibganj Upazila on the same day. M R Islam Shadhin, administrator of Bogura City Corporation, attended event as chief guest.
