A cleanliness drive was conducted in Nilphamari on Saturday under the initiative of
the district administration as part of the nationwide ‘Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign-2026’. In the
afternoon, the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner, Md. Humayun Kabir, led an effort to clear garbage and cut
down weeds in the Jordarga area along the Nilphamari-Saidpur road.
Md. Saidul Islam, Administrator of Nilphamari Municipality; Nuzhat Tasnim Aon, Additional Deputy Commissioner
(General); Md. Masum Ali, Deputy Director of the Social Services Office; and Md. Abbas Ali, Conservancy Inspector
of Nilphamari Municipality, were present on the occasion. Later, an awareness-raising human chain program was
held in the same area, in which the Deputy Commissioner participated.
Newly appointed Deputy Commissioner Md. Humayun Kabir stated that this program will continue in Nilphamari,
just as it will across the country, until December 12. Alongside general cleanliness efforts, the program will focus
on destroying the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes.
Activities at the upazila level are also being monitored. He further added that, in addition to the administration,
members of volunteer organizations—including Scouts, BNCC, Girl Guides, the Red Crescent Society, and students
from schools and colleges—are participating in this initiative. The Nilphamari Municipality is providing support for
the effort.
