Shipping Ministry, Rajib Ahsan made a surprise visit to Benapole Land Port. He came to inspect the port at around 12 noon on Wednesday and inquired about the overall activities of the port, quality of passenger service, security measures and immigration activities.
At that time, Bangladesh Land Ports Authority Chairman Manjarul Mannan and Jessore Police Superintendent Syed Rafiqul Islam were present with the State Minister.
First, they went to the International Passenger Terminal of Benapole Land Port. Later, a meeting was held with various stakeholders related to the port under the chairmanship of Land Ports Authority Chairman Manjarul Mannan at the terminal building.
The meeting discussed the overall activities of Benapole Land Port, improvement of passenger service, strengthening security, easing the approach process and the progress of Bangladesh-India border trade.
The meeting discussed various problems and opportunities related to the port. In particular, emphasis was placed on making the port’s activities more dynamic, reducing passenger suffering, strengthening security measures and speeding up commercial activities.
After the inspection, State Minister for Shipping Rajib Ahsan said that Benapole Land Port is playing a unique role in keeping the country’s economy running. A new contractor has already been appointed to keep commercial activities uninterrupted. In addition, work will be started quickly to resolve waterlogging in the port.
Later, the State Minister and Chairman of the Land Port Authority visited the zero point of the Benapole-Petrapole border, the immigration area and various sheds of the port. They spoke to the officials concerned and inquired in detail about the port’s activities and infrastructure situation.
Benapole Land Port Director Ruhul Amin, officials from immigration, police, BGB and various government agencies were present during the inspection.
After the inspection, State Minister for Shipping Rajib Ahsan and Land Port Authority Chairman Manzarul Mannan left Benapole Land Port.
