Ahead of the Dudhsar Union Parishad election in Shailkupa Upazila of Jhenaidah, four potential BNP chairman candidates have launched an early election campaign. Before the Election Commission announces the official schedule, the election atmosphere has gathered across the union, focusing on the potential candidates’ mass contact, exchange of views, exchange of greetings and participation in various social activities.

‎From tea shops to markets and other important places, the upcoming UP elections are now the focus of discussion. A loud presence and campaign of supporters for the potential candidates can be observed in various areas of Dudhsar Union. The potential candidates are trying to garner the support of voters by highlighting their qualifications, social status, political experience and future plans for the development of the area.

‎Among the potential BNP candidates in Dudhsar Union are Union BNP General Secretary Md.  Habibur Rahman Habib, Bangladesh Nationalist Thana Jubo Dal convener Md. Rabiul Islam, Thana BNP member Oliar Rahman Sujan Shah, District BNP Human Rights Secretary Adv. Zakaria Milon. The campaign of potential candidates has already generated enthusiasm among the leaders and supporters of various wards of the union. In addition to exchanging greetings with voters, the candidates are presenting their plans on various issues including local problems, road development, education, healthcare, employment, prevention of drugs and social degradation.

‎Talking to local voters, it was learned that they have long had various expectations regarding various developments and citizen services of the union. As a result, they want a chairman who will play an effective role in the overall development of the union in the upcoming elections, alongside party identity, by standing by the common people. Meanwhile, with multiple potential candidates in the field, various discussions are also underway regarding the internal equation of BNP-Jamaat in Dudhsar union.  There is curiosity in the political circles about who will ultimately receive party support or nomination and who will have more support from local leaders and activists and general voters. However, those concerned believe that the final picture of the candidature will become clearer after the election schedule is announced and the nomination process begins.

‎With such active campaigning by potential candidates even before the schedule is announced, the election atmosphere is now blowing everywhere in Dudhsar Union. Locals believe that as the elections approach, the candidates’ campaigns will become more vigorous and competitive.
