Md. Sajjad Khandaker, the President of the Radhaganj Union unit of Chatra Dal, has been accused of entering a school and assaulting a seventh-grade student over a matter involving an alleged girlfriend. Following the incident, the Kotalipara Upazila Chatra Dal expelled Sajjad Khandaker for life. The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon (September 22) at Narikelbari High School in Kotalipara. The victim, Sumon Molla (13), is a seventh-grade student at the school. Sumon alleged that Sajjad came to the school, called him out, and beat him, accusing him of harassing a sixth-grade girl whom Sajjad claimed as his girlfriend. When the girl was subsequently summoned, she denied the harassment allegations. Sajjad then threatened Sumon not to disclose the assault to anyone before leaving the premises.
On Wednesday evening (September 23)—the day after the incident—a notice signed by Upazila Chatra Dal Convener Lalon Sheikh and Member Secretary Niloy Howlader announced Sajjad’s lifetime expulsion. The notice cited specific charges of violating organizational discipline.
Sumon’s uncle-in-law, Sayem Kazi, stated that the assault on a teenage student inside the school grounds warrants an investigation, noting that schools should be safe environments for students. Sumon’s parents work at a garment factory in Ashulia; consequently, Sumon and his younger brother reside with their aunt in Hashua village to pursue their education.
Sajjad Khandaker could not be reached for comment regarding the allegations. He is the son of Alamgir Khandaker from Narikelbari village.
The incident—involving the assault of a student inside the school and the subsequent lifetime expulsion of the Chatra Dal leader—has sparked widespread discussion in the area.
