“Hindu and Muslim are two flowers on the same stalk. May a beautiful society be built on Nazrul’s non-communal spirit.” Nazrul Jayanti is being celebrated grandly at the primary and secondary education levels in Mohammadpur, Magura, on the occasion of the 127th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and ‘Nazrul Barsho-2026’, keeping this motto in mind. Literary and cultural competitions are being held among students on various subjects in phases, divided into 4 zones in primary schools and 4 zones in secondary schools, organized by the upazila administration.

The four zonal centers at the secondary level are—Mohammadpur Government R.S.K.S. Institution Model Secondary School, Babukhali Aftab Uddin Secondary School, Binodpur Nanibala Girls’ School and Nahata Ranipatit Secondary School. Zone-based literary and cultural competitions are held simultaneously at these centers.

In continuation of this, Babukhali Zone’s secondary level Nazrul Jayanti and competition were held on Wednesday (September 16) at 11 am in the premises of Babukhali Aftab Uddin Secondary School with colorful arrangements. At the same time, on the occasion of Nazrul Barsho, a union level painting, poetry recitation, singing, dancing, solo performance and public speaking competition was held at Mohammadpur Model Government Primary School with the participation of students from all primary schools of Mohammadpur Union.

Mohammadpur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Bedwati Mistry was the chief guest at the main program held at Babukhali Aftab Uddin Secondary School premises and delivered a directional speech. In her speech, she told the students, “Students should not be limited to textbooks and should become self-reliant and self-reliant after completing their studies. The young generation should play a leading role in building a beautiful society free from drugs and child marriage.” Recalling the poet’s non-communal spirit, she further said, “We all have to come forward to build a harmonious and discrimination-free society by keeping in mind the equality and humanistic message of Kazi Nazrul.”

Babukhali Secondary School Managing Committee President Hafizur Rahman Baki Mia, Mohammadpur Upazila Secondary Education Office Supervisor Pranab Kumar Poddar, Mohammadpur Press Club Acting President Mehedi Hasan Palash, Upazila ICT Officer Oliullah, and Babukhali Aftab Uddin Secondary School Headmaster Ratan Ali Khan were present as special guests at the event.
