Inauguration of the Pediatric Nuclear Medicine Training Program at NINMAS and a Scientific Seminar on Scintigraphy, SPECT-CT and Clinical Practice

A scientific seminar titled “Inauguration of Training Programme on Pediatric Nuclear Medicine: Scintigraphy, SPECT-CT and Clinical Practice” was organized by the Research Cell and Scintigraphy Department of NINMAS at the Kamal Uddin Ahmed Auditorium, Shahbagh on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 11:30 am. Professor Dr. Nasrin Sultana presented an article as the Key Note Speaker in the seminar. In her speech, she highlighted the importance and necessity of nuclear medicine in the treatment of children. Especially in the diagnosis of Biliary Atresia in children, she shed light on the importance of evaluating brain function through HIDA Scan, DTPA, DMSA Renal Scan, Meckel’s Scan, intestinal bleeding diagnosis and Brain Perfusion Test. In her speech as the president, Professor Dr. A. K. M. Fazlul Bari thanked all the professors, doctors, scientists and trainee doctors of various departments present. He said that this training on Pediatric Nuclear Medicine has been organized for the first time as part of the regular training program of NINMAS. He also said that Nuclear Medicine is a multidisciplinary department, which is very important for patients and doctors of all branches of medical science. Coordination between doctors from different departments is essential to make medical services easy and effective for the common people of the country. Along with nuclear medicine technology, ultrasonogram, Doppler, elastography and PET-CT are playing an important role in diagnosing diseases. He mentioned that about eleven thousand thyroid cancer patients are currently receiving regular medical services in the thyroid department of NINMAS. A total of 18 trainees from nuclear medicine, pediatrics and other departments participated in the said training seminar. Also present at the event were Professor Dr. Md. Roknuzzaman, Chairman, Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition; Professor Dr. Helena Begum, Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology; Professor Dr. Salma Jahan, Department of Pediatric Nephrology and Associate Professor Dr. Mohammad Badrul Alam.
