A meeting was held with the Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RPMP) to enhance coordination, mutual relations and deal with the law and order situation more effectively between various units of the police. The meeting was held at 11:30 am on September 14, 2026, in the conference room of the Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Office.
The meeting was attended by Police Commissioner, Rangpur Metropolitan Police, Md. Mahbubur Rashid, Additional Police Commissioner (Administration and Finance) Naresh Chakma, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Tofail Ahmed, Deputy Police Commissioner (Traffic), Additional Duty Deputy Police Commissioner (CTSB) Maruf Ahmed, Deputy Police Commissioner (Crime and Ops) Md. Abdur Rahman, Deputy Police Commissioner (DB), Additional Duty Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters and Administration) Sanatan Chakraborty.
Also present among the senior officers of other units were Acting Superintendent of Police, CID Sumit Chowdhury, Superintendent of Police, Highway Police, Rangpur Region Abu Torab Shamsur Rahman, Superintendent of Police, RRF Hafizur Rahman, Superintendent of Police (Administration), PTC Rahima Akhter Lucky and senior officers of other units.
After reviewing and evaluating the various opinions and proposals of the officers present at the meeting, Police Commissioner Md. Mahbubur Rashid highlighted the need to form a 30-member Quick Response Team (QRT) from various police units. He said that various police units will provide members to the team according to their capabilities. A list will be prepared by coordinating how many members can be provided from which unit.
He further said that in addition to performing regular duties of the QRT team, arrangements will be made to use the team on an on-call basis in emergency situations. Plans were also outlined to deploy this team, formed through the coordinated participation of various police units, on regular patrol and checkpost duties.
The Police Commissioner also said at the meeting that if members of various investigative agencies, especially CID, PBI and RAB, are involved in sensational or important incidents as needed, it will create opportunities to advance the investigation activities of the concerned units more effectively through mutual exchange of information.
