An inter-departmental final debate competition and award distribution ceremony was held on the occasion of Netrakona Government College Debate Festival-2026. The proposal for the final debate, held in the college's multimedia conference room on Monday (September 7), was—"Not strict laws, but social awareness is the only key to building a crime-free society." An inter-departmental final debate competition and award distribution ceremony was held on the occasion of Netrakona Government College Debate Festival-2026.
The proposal for the final debate, held in the college’s multimedia conference room on Monday (September 7), was—”Not strict laws, but social awareness is the only key to building a crime-free society.”
Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Mushfiqur Rahman was present as the chief guest at the event.
Netrokona Government College Principal Professor Md. Abu Taher Khan presided over the function.
Special guests were – Netrokona Government College Vice Principal Professor Md. Abdul Qadir Fakir and Secretary of the Teachers’ Council and Associate Professor of the Physics Department Muhammad Mukhlesur Rahman Akand, Associate Professor of the Bengali Department Golam Mostafa, District Education Officer Md. Jahangir Kabir Ahmed.
The Deputy Commissioner thoroughly enjoyed the final debate competition and in his speech highlighted the importance of debate in building a society based on rational thinking, truth and knowledge. He also emphasized the activities and expansion of the debate club to further expand the practice of debate among students.
The Political Science Department won the championship by defeating the English Department in a lively final debate. Later, prizes were distributed among the champions, runners-up and best debaters of the competition.
At the event, a letter of appreciation was presented to the District Commissioner on behalf of Netrokona Government College.

Let the youth be enlightened by the light of reason, and let the practice of debate develop a truth-seeking and rational generation.
