In the Rajshahi market, the prices of most vegetables have remained stable this week as well, following the trend of last week. However, although the vegetable market is within reach, the prices of eggs and chicken have increased again.

Such a picture has been seen in various raw markets around the city, including Saheb Bazar. Currently, cucumber is being sold at 40 taka per kg in the market. Besides, bitter gourd is being sold at 30 taka, potato at 20-25 taka, onion at 45-50 taka, potato at 30 taka, lentil at 25-30 taka, brinjal at 80-90 taka, cauliflower at 60-70 taka, shrimp at 30 taka, chichinga at 30 taka, barbati at 40 taka, kachur lati at 40 taka, raw papaya at 20 taka and sweet pumpkin at 30 taka per kg. And raw banana is being sold at 25 taka per hali, ole at 30 taka per kg, gourd at 30 taka per piece and rice pumpkin at 30 taka per piece.

Meanwhile, the prices of carrots and tomatoes remain unchanged like last week. Carrots are being sold at 140 taka per kg in the market and tomatoes at 140-150 taka per kg. Among spices, ginger is being sold at 180 taka, Natore garlic at 80 taka and local garlic at 160-170 taka per kg. There has been no major change in the prices of these products. However, the prices of chicken and eggs have increased compared to last week. Local chicken eggs are being sold at 75-80 taka per hali, duck eggs at 70 taka, farm red eggs at 48 taka and white eggs at 44 taka. Among chickens, broiler is being sold at 180 taka per kg, golden at 250-260 taka, local chicken at 550 taka, white layer at 290 taka, red layer at 340 taka, foamy at 330 taka and duck at 270 taka per kg.

Traders said that the prices of vegetables are currently a little low due to adequate supply in the market. However, it has been raining continuously in Rajshahi for the last few days. They fear that the prices of vegetables may increase if this situation continues. The presence of buyers in the market is also satisfactory as the prices are under control. Matiar Rahman, who came to market at Masterpara market, said that the prices of vegetables are the same as last week, but the price of brinjal has increased slightly. In addition, along with the increase in the price of chicken, the price of eggs has increased by about 4 taka. However, the price of fish has remained unchanged.

Another buyer, Fatema Begum, said that although the prices of vegetables are quite low in Rajshahi now, the prices of other daily necessities are increasing slightly. Vegetable seller Ali Akbar said that the prices are normal as sufficient vegetables are coming from different areas every day. However, the price of brinjal is a bit high in the market. Another seller, Mustafizur Rahman, said that there is no big change in the prices of vegetables, rather the prices of some products have decreased compared to before. The price of green chili is also much lower now. If the market is so stable, it is good for both buyers and sellers.

Meanwhile, there has been no significant change in the fish market. In the market, Rui is being sold at Tk 270-300, Katla at Tk 300-350, Tilapia at Tk 170-210, Pangash at Tk 180-200, Farmed Koi at Tk 200-220, Farmed Sing at Tk 300-350, Tengra at Tk 600-700, Boal at Tk 650-800, Shrimp at Tk 650-900, Coral at Tk 750, Desi Koi at Tk 800-1000 and Desi Sing at Tk 1000-1200 per kg.

Hridoy Ahmed, a chicken trader at Rajshahi Station Market, said that last week, broiler chickens were sold at Tk 150-160, but this week they are being sold at Tk 180 per kg, up by Tk 20. If the rain continues, the price may increase further. Hafiz Uddin, an egg trader at the same market, said that the price of eggs has increased by Tk 4 to 6 per kg and Tk 30 per dozen. White eggs, which were sold for Tk 40 per kg last week, are now being sold for Tk 44-45 and red eggs for Tk 48-50. In addition, the price of other eggs has also increased, which may be slightly higher at the retail level.
