Father drowns while trying to save son in Gaibandha
The fire service has recovered the body of the father and the son alive after a father and son went missing while fishing in a beel in Saghata, Gaibandha. The incident took place at Telianir Beel in Bonarpara Union of Saghata Upazila around 4 pm on Saturday (September 5). The deceased, Mainul Islam, is the son of the deceased Mohammad Ali of Chatkalpani village in Bonarpara union. The fire service has recovered the body of the father and the son alive after a father and son went missing while fishing in a beel in Saghata, Gaibandha.
The incident took place at Telianir Beel in Bonarpara Union of Saghata Upazila around 4 pm on Saturday (September 5).
The deceased, Mainul Islam, is the son of the deceased Mohammad Ali of Chatkalpani village in Bonarpara union.
Locals said that as usual, Mainul Islam went fishing with his son Mahid in Telian Beel with a net. At one point, the boat capsized and Mahid drowned in the water. While trying to rescue him, Mainul drowned and disappeared.
Locals quickly rescued Mahid, but Mainul Islam drowned and disappeared.
Later, Saghata Fire Service was informed and they reached the spot and recovered the body of the missing Maynul after about 30 minutes of effort.
Nasirul Alam Swapan, chairman of Bonarpara Union Parishad in Saghata, said that Mainul used to earn a living by selling fish.
