A farewell reception for retired teachers and a reception for newly appointed teachers were held in Shalla, Sunamganj, jointly organized by the Bangladesh Government Primary School Head Teachers’ Association and the Bangladesh Government Primary School Teachers’ Association. A farewell reception for retired teachers and a reception for newly appointed teachers were held in Shalla, Sunamganj, jointly organized by the Bangladesh Government Primary School Head Teachers’ Association and the Bangladesh Government Primary School Teachers’ Association.
On Saturday (September 5), a colorful rally was first brought out in Shalla Upazila headquarters. The rally paraded through various roads of the upazila headquarters and ended at the venue of the Event.
Later, a farewell reception was given to teachers who retired between 2018 and 2026, while newly appointed teachers during the same period were welcomed with flowers.
The event was presided over by Manoj Sarkar Khokon and Arbindu Das and conducted by Anadi Talukdar and Pallabi Chowdhury.
At the beginning of the Event, Hafiz Maulana Enamul Haque, Imam and Khatib of the Upazila Parishad Jame Mosque, recited verses from the Holy Quran. This was followed by the national anthem and a one-minute silence in memory of deceased teachers.
The newly appointed teachers were then welcomed with flowers. Assistant teacher of Sultanpur Government Primary School, Md. Mostak Mia, delivered the welcome speech. Teacher Shilpi Rani Sarkar of Anandapur Government Primary School read out a citation in honor of the retiring teachers.
The speakers said that teachers play a vital role in improving the quality of primary education and building a bright future for students. The teachers who retired after serving with dedication for many years have made significant contributions to the education sector. The speakers also urged the newly appointed teachers to perform their duties by following the experience and ideals of their senior colleagues.
Among those present were Shalla Upazila BNP Convener Md. Sirajul Islam Siraj, former Upazila Chairman Nagendra Chandra Sarkar, Head Teacher of Gobinda Chandra Girls’ High School Mohipal Das Milton, Head Teacher of Shahid Ali Model High School Arif Mohammad Dulal, Shalla Upazila BNP Joint Convener Abdul Awal, Zakir Hossain and A. Karim Master, along with leaders from various levels, leaders of the teachers’ associations, and teachers from different government primary schools across the upazila.
At the event, citations and crests were handed over to the retiring teachers. The Event concluded with the performance of traditional Dhamail songs, followed by the serving of food.
