Two people arrested with 287 pieces of Yaba in Gaibandha
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has seized 287 pieces of Yaba in a raid in Kamarjani Bazar area of Gaibandha district. During this, Ashraful Islam (36) of Dharai village in Sadullapur and Kamal Hossain Sumon (27) of Bahadurpur village under Kotwali police station in Jessore district were arrested for carrying Yaba. The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has seized 287 pieces of Yaba in a raid in Kamarjani Bazar area of Gaibandha district. During this, Ashraful Islam (36) of Dharai village in Sadullapur and Kamal Hossain Sumon (27) of Bahadurpur village under Kotwali police station in Jessore district were arrested for carrying Yaba. In continuation of the ongoing anti-drug operation of RAB, based on specific intelligence information, on August 26 at 11.10 pm, a team of CPC-3, RAB-13, Gaibandha Camp conducted a raid on the paved road adjacent to Kamarjani Bazar under Sadar Police Station of Gaibandha district. During the raid, two persons were arrested and a total of 287 pieces of Yaba tablets were found in two packets after their bodies were searched. At this time, the two persons were arrested as drug dealers. Another associate of the arrested persons, Monowarul Islam (35), managed to escape from the scene.
Initial interrogation revealed that the arrested accused have been involved in drug trade for a long time. In this incident, RAB has filed a case against the accused under the Narcotics Control Act. The arrested accused and the seized evidence have been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action. It is also known that RAB-13’s intelligence activities and ongoing operations will continue as part of the implementation of the current government’s zero tolerance policy against drugs.
