The accident took place at around 9 am on Wednesday (August 26) in the Kochubari Post Office area of ​​Bhulli upazila on the Panchagarh-Thakurgaon highway. The deceased auto rider, Anwara Begum, is the wife of Shahjahan Ali of Baro Balia area of ​​Bhulli upazila, and the deceased auto driver, the son of Chhatris Adhikari of Shukhan Pukur area of ​​Sadar upazila, has been confirmed by Bhulli police station. On the other hand, the four injured were taken to Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital, where two of them were referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment as their condition was critical.

Police and local sources said that a freight pickup truck was heading towards Panchagarh from Dhaka on Wednesday morning. When it reached the Kochubari Post Office area, it collided head-on with a motorcycle and a battery-powered auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction. All three vehicles were damaged and several people were injured. On receiving information, locals and a unit of the Fire Service rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and took them to the 250-bed Thakurgaon General Hospital. Anwara Begum and Jiban Adhikari died while undergoing treatment there.

Bhulli Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Noor Alam Siddiqui said, “Two people were killed in a three-way collision involving a pickup, motorcycle and battery-powered auto-rickshaw in the Kochubari area. The driver of the pickup has been arrested along with the vehicle. Necessary legal action will be taken after investigating the cause of the accident.”
