State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam MP has said that true democracy is currently prevailing in Bangladesh. He said that the holding of the presidential election in a democratic manner is a great proof of the practice and development of democracy in the country. He also thanked and expressed gratitude to the opposition party for participating in the presidential election.

State Minister Mir Shahe Alam made these remarks while participating in the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Mokamtala Union Parishad office in Mokamtala Upazila of Bogra and the distribution of relief materials among families affected by natural disasters at 11 am on Saturday (August 22).

Mir Shahe Alam also said, “Only Allah is the one who gives honor. He can give honor to anyone at any time, and can also take that honor away from anyone at any time. Therefore, no politician should be arrogant.”

He further said, “Our Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman is a dignified politician without arrogance. He is running the country very beautifully and responsibly. The welfare of the people and the development of the country are the main goals of his politics.”

The State Minister said that democracy is not limited to holding elections; the true beauty of democracy is revealed through respect for people’s opinions, political tolerance, and ensuring the participation of all.

Local public representatives, political leaders, administration officials and people from different walks of life were present at the event. Later, the State Minister distributed relief materials among the families affected by the natural disaster.
Later, he inspected the development activities of Mokamtala Union Jame Mosque and Mokamtala Playground.
