Five people arrested with pistols and bullets in Taltoli, Barguna

Locals have arrested five people, including a country-made pistol, four rounds of bullets and a magazine, from the rented house of Limon Sikder (28) of West Gabtoli village in Taltoli upazila.

They were arrested on Wednesday (August 19) afternoon.

Taltoli Police Station OC Md. Saidul Islam said, “Local people have arrested five people with a pistol and four rounds of bullets. The police are bringing them to the police station. Legal action will be taken against them after interrogation.”

It is learnt that Riaz Kazi of Paschim Gabtoli village in Taltoli upazila rented his house to Limon Sikder. Last Sunday, some people secretly came to that house. For the past three days, they had been roaming around different areas of Chhotobogi union. The locals were suspicious of their movements and conversations. On Wednesday afternoon, the local people went to Limon Sikder’s rented house. At that time, Jihad Khan, who was staying in his house, chased them with a pistol. Later, the local people arrested Jihad Khan (35), Hridoy Molla (25), Anik Majumder (25), Limon Sikder (28) and Jamal Mallick (27). Later, according to the information given by them, four rounds of bullets and a magazine were recovered from Limon’s house. Upon receiving the information, Taltoli police station went to the spot, rescued them and brought them to the police station.

The house of arrested Jihad Khan is in Kanthaltoli village of Lohagara police station of Narail district. His father’s name is Alam Khan. Hridoy Molla and Jamal’s house is in Amrajhuri village of Barguna Sadar upazila. Hridoy Molla’s father’s name is Md. Moklech Molla and Jamal Mallick’s father’s name is Shah Alam Mallick. The house of Limon Sikder and Anik Majumder is in Nishanbaria village of Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali district. Limon Sikder’s father’s name is Liton Sikder and Anik Majumder’s father’s name is Sanjay Majumder. This incident has created a sensation in the area.

Some people who did not want to be named said, “A few people were staying at Limon Sikder’s house for the last three days. They were roaming around different areas of Chhotobogi Union. When we became suspicious of their conversation, some of us went to Limon Sikder’s house. At that time, Jihad Khan chased us with a pistol. Later, we chased them and arrested them.”

Taltali Police Station OC (Investigation) Md. Shariful Islam said that with the help of locals, five people were arrested along with a domestic pistol, four rounds of bullets and a magazine.
