The general meeting of the Barisal Divisional Welfare Association of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) was held today, August 12, 2026, at Shaheed Dr. Milon Hall. The chief guest of the event was Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of Bangladesh Medical University and Advisor to the Barisal Divisional Welfare Association. The special guests were Professor Dr. Md. Abdus Shakur, Chairman of the Department of Physical Medicine and Advisor to the Welfare Association, and Dr. Mohammad Al Mamun, Associate Professor of the Department of Cardiology and Advisor to the Welfare Association. Professor Dr. Abu Hena Helal Uddin Ahmed, Teacher and Deputy Registrar of the Department of Prosthodontics and President of the Welfare Association, presided over the meeting. Associate Professor and Deputy Director (Public Relations-Retd.) of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery moderated the meeting. The general meeting was attended by Assistant Professor of the Department of Laboratory Medicine Dr. ASM Nowroz, Professor of the Department of Pediatric Surgery Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Deputy Controller of Examinations of the Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Md. Humayun Kabir, Section Officer HM Firoz, Public Relations Officer Prashant Kumar Majumder, and teachers, doctors, officers, nurses and employees of the Greater Barisal Division working at BMU. The speakers at the meeting said that the Barisal Division Welfare Association of BMU is a non-political organization. The speakers emphasized on maintaining harmony, unity and charitable work among themselves and also emphasized on taking BMU forward in medical education, medical services, research and development by properly fulfilling their respective responsibilities. At the beginning of the general meeting, the Barisal Divisional Welfare Association of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) presented a bouquet of flowers to the advisor and chief guest of the organization and conveyed their respect and good wishes. After this, Professor Dr. Abu Hena Helal Uddin Ahmed, who was recently promoted to the rank of professor, and Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam welcomed them with flowers.
