Islamic Bank Bangladesh PLC organized a meeting with prominent scholars to increase the use of Bangla QR in religious institutions to build a cashless Bangladesh. The meeting was held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at a hotel in the capital . Yes. Mufti Muhammad Muhibullahil Baki, Director General of Islamic Foundation Bangladesh, spoke as the chief guest at the event. The special guest was the bank’s Management Served as Chairman of the Board Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Mohammad Zaheer Hossain. Managing the bank Director ( Acting ) Md. Altaf Under the chairmanship of Hussein Mufti Shamsuddin Zia, Chairman of the Bank’s Sharia Supervisory Committee, Shah Mohammad Waliullah, Member of the Sharia Supervisory Board of Bangladesh Bank, and Mohammad Zakir Hossain, Additional Director of the Islamic Banking Regulations and Policies Department of Bangladesh Bank, also spoke at the event. The keynote speech on Bangla QR was presented by the Bank’s Additional Managing Director Director Engineer Mohammad Jamal Uddin Majumder. Additional Managing Director delivered the welcome speech. In his speech as the chief guest, Mufti Muhammad Muhibbullahil Baki said that financial transactions have also changed in line with the advancement of technology. It is the need of the hour to involve religious institutions in this change. Religious institutions can conduct financial transactions in a more transparent, secure and orderly manner by using simple and modern digital payment systems like Bangla QR. He called on scholars and religious leaders to come forward to build a cashless Bangladesh and expand modern, secure and easy digital transaction systems in religious institutions. Special guest speech by Mohammad Zaheer Hossain said, Bangladesh is steadily moving towards digital transformation. The expansion of digital transactions is very important to make the country’s financial system more modern, simple and inclusive. If religious institutions can be brought under the Bangla QR, it will create an opportunity to involve a large population in digital transactions. In his speech, the bank’s Managing Director (Acting) Md. Altaf Hossain said that despite many challenges, Islami Bank is moving forward with the trust and cooperation of its customers. The bank is working to ensure easy, secure and modern banking services for its customers.
