Bank executives, local businessmen and well-wishers were present at the time. In his keynote address, Mohammad Zahir Hossain said that the real owners of Islami Bank are its depositors. Bangladesh Bank and the current management are working tirelessly to protect their interests. As long as Bangladesh exists, InshaAllah Islami Bank will also survive with dignity. It will not be a bank of a single individual, group or party, it will be a bank for all. Assuring the customers, he said that the share capital of Islami Bank is only 6500 crore taka, while the deposits of the customers are about 2.5 lakh crore taka. This share ratio is a negligible part of the total deposits. He said that full trust and power have been given to the skilled management of Islami Bank, who have been working for 30-35 years. The board’s job is only to give policies, while professionals will run the bank. He called on the customers and depositors to stand by the bank and help it increase deposits, saying that Islami Bank has no opportunity to look back. Three expressed their firm optimism that with utmost professionalism, the bank will regain its lost glory and reach new heights within a short period of time.
