District Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested a drug dealer named Md. Mukul (36) while smuggling Yaba in Joypurhat. At that time, 500 pieces of Yaba were recovered from inside his stomach.

​DB Police said in a press release on Saturday (July 18), on Friday (July 17), based on a secret tip-off, a smart team of Joypurhat District Detective Branch conducted a raid at the intersection of three roads of Deogram Betar Ghar under Khet Lal Police Station. At that time, drug dealer Mukul was arrested. His body was searched but no Yaba was found. Later, on the advice of a doctor, an X-ray of the accused’s stomach was done and a total of 500 pieces of Yaba in 5 packets wrapped in polythene were extracted from his stomach through a special procedure.

The arrested Mukul is the son of the late Abdus Salam of Dakshin Jamalpur (Dudhiapara) village in Joypurhat Sadar Upazila.

Joypurhat District Detective Branch Inspector Md. Asaduzzaman said that this successful operation was conducted under the direction of the Superintendent of Police. Initial interrogation revealed that the accused was bringing the Yaba pills from Cox’s Bazar to Joypurhat by swallowing them inside his stomach. A case has been filed against the arrested accused under the Narcotics Control Act and sent to court.
