A mobile court has sealed a diagnostic center in Narsingdi’s Raipura on charges of various irregularities and fined 48 thousand taka. Raipura Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Md. Masud Rana conducted the operation on Thursday.

According to the mobile court sources, various irregularities were found in the Siraj Khan Modern Diagnostic Center located in the Tulatuli area of ​​the upazila, including not storing reagents properly, not having the necessary qualified lab technicians, irregularities in medical waste management and non-renewal of license.
For these irregularities, the owner of the institution, Tajul Islam, was fined a total of 48 thousand taka under the relevant sections of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 and the Medicines and Cosmetics Act, 2023.  The mobile court ordered him to serve two months in prison for non-payment.

At that time, the diagnostic center was sealed. In addition, it was ordered to renew the license and correct all irregularities and inconsistencies by July 16. A bond was also taken from the owner in this regard.

When news of the raid spread, locals said that several nearby diagnostic centers and pharmacies closed and those concerned left.

Narsingdi Drug Administration Department Drug Supervisor Sirajum Monira conducted the prosecution in the mobile court. Raipura Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Jannatun Naeem, Resident Medical Officer Dr. Rajib and members of Raipura Police Station were present at the time.

Upazila Executive Officer Md. Masud Rana said that such raids will continue to be conducted to prevent irregularities in healthcare institutions in the public interest.
