At least five people, including a woman, were injured in a clash between two parties over a land dispute in Rasulpur village of Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria. At least five people, including a woman, were injured in a clash between two parties over a land dispute in Rasulpur village of Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria. The injured have been rescued and admitted to Brahmanbaria District Sadar Hospital. Tension prevails in the area after the incident.
The incident took place at around 7 pm on Wednesday (July 8) in Madhyapara, Rasulpur village of the upazila.
According to local and eyewitness sources, there had been tension between the two sides over a long-standing land dispute. In the wake of this, one side attacked the other with domestic weapons. In this, Nazmul, Muslem Uddin, Naima Khatun, Shafiq Mia and Enamul Mia were injured. Later, locals rescued them and admitted them to Brahmanbaria District Sadar Hospital.
The families of the injured alleged that the attack was led by Awal Mia, Adu Mia, Milan Mia, Alal, Jalal and Siam.
A relative of the accused Siam said that due to a previous dispute, Siam and the opponent first clashed. Later, more people from both sides arrived at the scene and got involved in the clash.
The situation in the area has been tense since the incident. Local dignitaries are trying to calm the situation to avoid any untoward incident. It is learnt that preparations are underway to file a case with the police station on behalf of the victim’s family.
In this regard, SI Zia, in-charge of Shibpur police outpost of Nabinagar police station, said, “The police went to the spot after receiving the information about the incident. Five people were injured in the clash. However, no written complaint has been received in this incident so far. If a complaint is received, necessary legal action will be taken subject to investigation.”
Police said the situation is currently under control and surveillance has been increased in the area. An investigation will be launched to uncover the real cause of the incident after receiving a written complaint.
