RASIK Administrator inaugurates tree plantation program at RUET

On the occasion of the 250 million tree plantation program in 5 years, a fruit, forest and medicinal tree plantation program has been inaugurated at the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) campus on the initiative of the Honorable Prime Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman. On Wednesday (July 1) at 12 noon, Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton inaugurated the tree plantation program by planting saplings on the RUET campus. After that, prayers and supplications were offered.

Speaking as the chief guest at the event, RASC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said that to protect the balance of the environment and combat the adverse effects of climate change, the current government led by Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has taken up the election pledge of “Planting 250 million trees in 5 years”. To implement the said program, Rajshahi City Corporation has undertaken a program to plant 250,000 trees in the next one year. In the first phase, about 53,000 tree seedlings have been planted. Various educational institutions have also come forward to plant trees. I thank everyone for this.

At this time, the RASIC administrator called on city residents, including people of all classes and professions, to plant more trees and urged everyone to take responsibility for planting and caring for at least one tree.

RUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. SM Abdur Razzak, Student Welfare Advisor Professor Dr. Md. Rabiul Islam, Registrar Arif Ahmed Chowdhury, Chief Engineer Md. Shahadat Hossain and other teachers and officials of RUET were present at the tree plantation program.

Present at the event were Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP Vice President Muktar Hossain, Office In-charge Muidur Rahman Moeed, Metropolitan Jubo Dal Convener Shariful Islam Joni, Motihar Thana BNP General Secretary Al Mamun Babu, Chandrima Thana BNP Member Secretary Monirul Islam Joni, Kashiadanga Thana BNP General Secretary Mojiul Ahsan Himel, Metropolitan Krishak Dal President Sarfuzzaman Shamim, and leaders of local BNP and affiliated organizations.
