Allegations of embezzlement of 5 lakh taka on the pretext of business, information on multiple transactions in bank statements:
Thakurgaon resident Md. Shahinur Islam, who used to sell mangoes, honey, chira, sugar, semai and mustard oil online under the name “Shahin Mart”, has been accused of borrowing Tk 5 lakh and not repaying it on the pretext of business.
Complainant Shawon Amin said that he and Shahin met through a Semai order in the month of Ramadan 2023. Later, based on that acquaintance, Shahin borrowed a total of Tk 5 lakh from Shawon Amin’s son, Jhar Amin, who works in Dhaka, through the bank in four installments for business.
The City Bank account statement provided by the victims shows that transactions of Tk 1 lakh were made on April 24, 2025, another Tk 1 lakh on May 4, 2025, Tk 2 lakh on June 30, 2025, and Tk 1 lakh on July 11, 2025, using the same NPSB (CITYTOUCH/NPSB-2631100009738) reference. Each transaction was paid through the bank. In total, they alleged that Shahin owed them a total of Tk 5 lakh.
According to the complaint, Shahin initially promised to return the money in March this year, but later extended the deadline and assured to pay the full amount by June 20. However, it is alleged that he continued to avoid contact even after the deadline passed without returning the money.
Shawon Amin claims that Shahin hung up the phone when he asked for money, and later blocked him and his son Jhar Amin on Facebook. In addition, Shahin tried to contact him on the numbers 01710-584276 & 01711762687 used by him several times, but the phone was switched off.
