An allegation has been made of raping a speech-impaired girl (22) in Madhabdi, Narsingdi. Police arrested accused Awlad Hossain from Shekherchar area on Wednesday (July 1) afternoon.
Earlier, the rape incident took place on Monday (June 29) afternoon in Barderkandi village of Mahishashura union of Madhabdi police station in Sadar upazila.
The accused in this incident, Awlad Hossain (26), is the son of the deceased Mosharraf Hossain of ward number 7 of Barderkandi village.
Police and locals said that on Monday (June 29) afternoon, accused Awlad Hossain lured a speech-impaired girl from the same village and called her to his house and raped her. Later, the disabled girl narrated the entire incident to her mother, and the incident came to light on Tuesday.
On Tuesday (June 30) night, 10-12 locals along with the family went to Madhabdi police station to file a written complaint against Awlad Hossain. The police are taking legal action including sending the victim of the torture to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for a medical examination on Wednesday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madhabdi police station Mohammad Kamal Hossain said that the police started investigating the incident immediately after receiving the complaint. The victims’ statements are being recorded, medical examinations are being taken and necessary legal action is being taken. Later in the afternoon, he was arrested in a drive in Shekherchar area. Preparations are underway to send him to court.
