The PBI has unraveled the mystery of the controversial Shipra Rani murder case in Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria. Four years after the incident, the mystery of the murder was revealed with the arrest of the mastermind of the murder, Tajul Islam alias Kajal. The PBI has unraveled the mystery of the controversial Shipra Rani murder case in Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria. Four years after the incident, the mystery of the murder was revealed with the arrest of the mastermind of the murder, Tajul Islam alias Kajal.
Members of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Brahmanbaria arrested Tajul Islam alias Kajal from the Sonaimuri Railway Station area of Noakhali district on Sunday night. The arrested Kajal was brought to the PBI, Brahmanbaria office on Monday morning.
The arrested person is Tajul Islam alias Kajal, son of the deceased Phul Mia of Jinodpur village in Nabinagar upazila.
According to the PBI, Tajul Islam alias Kajal killed Shipra Rani due to extramarital love and blackmail. Later, the killer Kajal changed her name to Lalon Mia to protect herself and was living and working as a soil cutter in Noakhali district.
PBI, Brahmanbaria Superintendent of Police Sachin Chakma gave this information at a press conference at the PBI office located in the city museum in Dupur on Monday.
At the press conference, Superintendent of Police Sachin Chakma said that Shipra Rani Das is the wife of Sabinay Das of Aruwail village of Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria district. She used to work as a cooking assistant with Kalu Saha Baburchi of Narsingdi district. Through that, Shipra met Tajul Islam Kajal, another associate of Kalu Baburchi. Later, they got involved in extramarital love and an illegal relationship. At one point, Shipra threatened to expose their secret relationship and demanded 50,000 taka from Tajul Islam Kajal.
Tajul Islam Kajal became angry and planned to kill Shipra. As per the plan, on October 1, 2021, Tajul Islam Kajal took Shipra by boat from Mirzarchar in Narsingdi to Charlapang village in Nabinagar, talking about work. Later, from there, he took her to a secluded place in the neighboring Nabipur Char area, forcibly raped her, and strangled her to death.
Three days after the incident, on October 4, the Nabinagar police recovered Shipra’s half-decomposed body. Later, after identifying her, Shipra’s husband filed a rape and murder case with Nabinagar police station on January 9, 2022. The incident was investigated by the PBI as it was clueless. Later, the PBI arrested Kalu Baburchi on September 7, 2023. At that time, various information was obtained from him.
At one stage, the investigating officer of the case, SI Md. Shahdat Hossain, arrested the killer Tajul Islam Kajal from Noakhali based on information from information technology intelligence. He also said that the killer Tajul Islam Kajal had already confessed to his involvement in the murder and given a statement to the police under Section 161.
