Tourist police have arrested TikToker Abdul Mabud alias ‘Hero Nana’ (42) on charges of harassing a Chinese tourist visiting a historical site in Naogaon, recording a video without permission, and spreading it on social media.

The arrested Abdul Mabud is the son of the deceased Abdul Jalil of Chandipur village in Joypurhat Sadar Upazila. He was detained for questioning from his home in Joypurhat on Tuesday afternoon. Police have confirmed that preparations are underway to hand him over to Badalgachhi Police Station in Naogaon as part of the further legal process.

According to local and police sources, a Chinese national visited the historical site last week. During this time, the accused misbehaved with the foreign tourist and recorded a video without his permission. Later, when the video was shared on social media, it quickly went viral and created intense anger and criticism among the conscious circles about the matter.

The Paharpur Tourist Police Unit launched an operation as soon as the incident came to their attention. Taking swift action to protect the country’s image and ensure the safety of foreign tourists, the main accused was arrested.

Police said legal action is underway in the incident and security has been beefed up in tourist areas.
