Two veku traders fined Tk 90,000 for illegally cutting land in Kotalipara

Two veku traders have been fined a total of Tk 90,000 in Kotalipara, Gopalganj for illegally cutting land. The fine was collected by operating a mobile court at Palotana Beel in Sadullapur Union of the upazila on Sunday (June 21) afternoon. The upazila administration conducted a drive there after receiving information from local sources. Two veku traders have been fined a total of Tk 90,000 in Kotalipara, Gopalganj for illegally cutting land.

The fine was collected by operating a mobile court at Palotana Beel in Sadullapur Union of the upazila on Sunday (June 21) afternoon. The upazila administration conducted a drive there after receiving information from local sources.

During the drive, under Section 13 of the Land Crimes Remedies and Prevention Act, 2023, veku trader Rathin Baidya was fined Tk 50,000 and Abul Ahad Biswas was fined Tk 40,000 by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Masum Billah.

The fined Rathin Baidya is the son of Ranjit Baidya of Bhaghalbari village of the upazila, and Abul Ahad Biswas is the son of Fajr Ali Biswas of Pinjuri village.

Police personnel from Kotalipara Police Station and local dignitaries were present during the operation of the mobile court.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Masum Billah said that such campaigns against illegal land cutting, damaging agricultural land and the environment, will continue in the future.
