Anti-drug discussion meeting in Kotalipara

A discussion meeting was held to make Ghugrahati and Borivita villages of Ward No. 1 of Kandi Union of Kotalipara Upazila of Gopalganj drug-free. On Friday (June 19) afternoon, the discussion meeting held at the Borivita Government Primary School grounds by the youth community of Ghugrahati-Borivita village was presided over by veteran freedom fighter Zahid Hossain Sikder (Bachchu). A discussion meeting was held to make Ghugrahati and Borivita villages of Ward No. 1 of Kandi Union of Kotalipara Upazila of Gopalganj drug-free.

On Friday (June 19) afternoon, the discussion meeting held at the Borivita Government Primary School grounds by the youth community of Ghugrahati-Borivita village was presided over by veteran freedom fighter Zahid Hossain Sikder (Bachchu).

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotalipara Police Station Md. Riyad Mahmud was present as the chief guest at the discussion meeting. Upazila BNP General Secretary Abul Bashar Howlader, Municipal BNP General Secretary Waliur Rahman Howlader, Upazila Jubo Dal Member Secretary Mannan Sheikh and Tarail Government Primary School Assistant Teacher Oliullah Howlader spoke as special guests.

The speakers highlighted the dangers of drugs in their speeches and urged the youth to stay away from drugs. They said that drugs push individuals, families and society towards destruction. A social movement should be built against drugs and families, educational institutions, public representatives and law enforcement agencies should work together.

People from different classes and professions, including prominent figures of the area, were present at the time. The meeting emphasized the joint efforts of everyone to keep the Ghugrahati and Borivita areas drug-free.
