Mohammad Zahir Hossain, the overall representative of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, exchanged views with the officers and employees of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC. In the meeting held at Islami Bank Tower on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, senior executives at the head office joined the meeting directly and officers and employees from all over the country joined the virtual platform. Acting Managing Director Md. Altaf Husain presided over the event, while Additional Managing Directors Engineer Mohammad Jamal Uddin Majumder and Dr. M. Kamal Uddin Jasim addressed the gathering. In his speech as the chief guest, Mohammad Zahir Hossain said, Islami Bank is a systemically important bank in the financial system of Bangladesh. This institution has a close relationship with the country’s import-export, expatriate income, foreign trade, the business of millions of entrepreneurs and the financial activities of millions of people. Therefore, the stability of Islami Bank is not only a matter of our institution; it is also an important element of national economic stability. He said, “The honesty, efficiency, professionalism and relentless hard work of the officers and employees of this bank made Islami Bank an exemplary institution not only in Bangladesh but also in the international arena. The bank has faced various adverse situations in the last few years. He said, the real strength of the institution is never lost; that strength can be reawakened through right leadership, right direction and collective efforts.” He further said that in the interest of the recent situation and the overall financial stability of the country, Bangladesh Bank has taken some important and timely decisions. With the overall guidance and cooperation of Bangladesh Bank, the bank’s activities will be conducted on the basis of complete professionalism, transparency and accountability. The process of forming a strong, efficient and acceptable board of directors will also be completed in due course as per the decision of the regulatory body. He called upon all the officers and employees of the bank to perform their duties with honesty, efficiency and utmost professionalism.
