Police have recovered the body of a young man named Raihan Mia in Gaibandha.
The body was recovered from Harinsingha village in Ramchandrapur union of Sadar upazila on Tuesday (June 16) night.
The deceased is Raihan Mia (16), son of Maqbul Hossain of Harin Singha village.
Relatives said that in the afternoon, Raihan went to bathe in the pond at Hawa Dighi intersection with his two friends Shakib and Rifat. Later in the evening, they received news that Raihan had been admitted to the District Sadar Hospital. When they went there, their relatives found Raihan dead.
Relatives allege that two friends, Shakib and Rifat, drowned him in water and fled after leaving him in the hospital to save themselves.
Gaibandha Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Abdullah Al Mamun said that the body of the deceased was recovered after receiving information. The cause of his death could not be confirmed initially as the accused’s two friends and his family members are absconding. The body will be sent to the district hospital for autopsy.
