The written statement said that on February 8, 2024, the original owner of the land, the late Abdus Salam Sardar alias Habi Sardar, was beaten up with the help of his eldest son Kamal, younger son Sayad, younger son’s wife Jaya and second wife Shahida Khatun. Later, the police rescued him and took him to the house of his daughter Fahmida Kamar Supti in Dhaka. He fell ill after that incident. In this incident, Habi Sardar filed a case in court against his wife and children.
It was further claimed at the press conference that Habi Sardar, who was in financial crisis due to illness, sold 23.86 acres of land to the highest bidder in the presence of his only daughter and son-in-law to cover his medical expenses. His wife and one son were witnesses when he received the money. He died while undergoing treatment after selling the land.
The buyer said that they had completed the mutation of the land and paid the rent as per the rules and had built a boundary and had been in possession for a long time. A part of the land was also rented for a lathe factory. However, it was alleged that the opponent Sayad Hossain and his people were trying to occupy the land and damaged the boundary and factory goods.
At the press conference, they claimed that these allegations were false, fabricated and baseless and made seven demands including stopping illegal encroachment on the purchased land, preventing misinformation and urgent intervention of the administration.
It is worth mentioning that in a press conference on June 6, Sayad Hossain, son of Habi Sardar, alleged that a gang was trying to seize the property after his father’s death. He also said that a civil case was filed in the court and a ban was imposed on the land in question. He further claimed that ownership of the property is being claimed by showing a dubious document and long-time tenants are now claiming ownership.
