Serious irregularities and financial transactions have been alleged against Nasir Uddin Tuhin, OC (Investigation) of Charghat Police Station in Rajshahi. The complaint states that although the phensedyl left by drug dealer Hasan was shown to have been seized, the motorcycle used to transport the drugs was later released. It has been alleged that the matter was settled through a transaction of two lakh taka without filing any case in this incident.

The alleged role of mediator in the incident was also mentioned in the complaint by OC (Investigation) Tuhin’s alleged ‘brother-in-law’ and drug dealer Ashiq of Arani area of ​​Bagha upazila. It has also been claimed that two sub-inspectors (SIs) of the police station, Siraj and Lal Mia, were involved in the incident. The incident is said to have taken place on the night of May 24.

According to the complaint, that night, the police led by SI Siraj and Lal Mia conducted a raid in the Patiyakandi Bridge area. Sensing the presence of the police, drug dealer Hasan fled, leaving behind a motorcycle and about 100 bottles of Phensedyl in a sack. Later, the police seized the motorcycle and Phensedyl from the scene.

Then a different process began. The complaint states that before the seized goods reached the police station, the matter was reported to Hasan and OC (Investigation) Tuhin’s alleged ‘brother-in-law’ Ashiq. Later, when the matter reached Tuhin, the motorcycle was left at a place outside the police station and only the phensedyl was taken to the police station. Then the dispute began late at night. The complaint states that a settlement was reached in exchange for two lakh taka on the morning of the next day, May 25. After this agreement, Hasan was not brought under the case and the motorcycle was returned and only 99 bottles of phensedyl were shown to have been seized.

When the incident came to light, SI Siraj was contacted on May 27 and claimed not to have gone on the operation. He said he was on Eid vacation and was not aware of the seizure of Phensedyl. On the other hand, SI Lal Mia claimed that he did not go on the operation and that Siraj’s statement was not correct.

Later, Siraj again gave a different statement, saying that he was not aware of the matter and would inform him after returning from vacation. When contacted later, he avoided commenting and did not provide any clear information. Similarly, he tried to avoid the matter in another round of contact.

Meanwhile, regarding the motorcycle, the accused officer said that the matter may have been ‘negotiated’, but he did not know who took the money and requested not to delve further into the matter.

It is learned that OC (Investigation) Nasir Uddin Tuhin joined Bagha police station in March last year. Since then, allegations have been made of his closeness to several drug dealers in Bagha. Locally, it is also being claimed that his relationship with Bagha drug dealer Ashiq is an ‘open secret’.

On the other hand, drug dealer Ashiq claimed that he had a previous case against him, but was acquitted. He also said that he was not involved in any mediation.

It is known that drug dealer Hasan also has multiple cases against him. However, he denied the allegations and said that the story of him leaving behind his motorcycle and Phensedyl and fleeing is not correct and he is being wrongly implicated.

Accused OC (Investigation) Nasir Uddin Tuhin denied all the allegations and said that Phensedyl was seized from the GD. He does not know anything about the motorcycle. He has no relationship with Ashiq and the allegations of not filing a case in exchange for money are completely baseless.

Charghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Malek said he was not aware of the matter. He would look into it.
