In Mahadevpur Upazila of Naogaon, allegations of forcible detention, prolonged torture and death threats have been made against his brother’s son. The victim, Md. Abdul Hamid, has filed a written complaint with Mahadevpur Police Station.

According to the complaint, Md. Abdul Hamid (father: deceased Mongla Kabiraj), a resident of Srinagar village in the upazila, had been under a kind of siege in his own house since December 5. He alleged that his nephew Md. Jewel Rana (father: Abdus Chamad) forcibly locked him in his house when his children, daughters and wife were not at home.

The complaint states that he was later inhumanly tortured for a long time and his land was taken in the name of Jewel Rana without any payment due to intimidation. During this time, he was not allowed to communicate with his family members.

The victim said that Unable to bear the torture, she escaped from there on Tuesday (June 2) at around 10 am. However, even after escaping, the accused continued to call her on the mobile number she used and threaten her with death and intimidation in various ways.

He also mentioned that his personal belongings are still at the accused’s house, which he needs to retrieve. He also alleged that he is currently suffering from extreme insecurity about his life.

In this regard, the victim Md. Abdul Hamid said, “I have been a victim of torture for a long time. I am still receiving death threats. I want safety and justice for my life from the administration.”

In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mahadevpur Police Station Md. Omar Faruk said that if a written complaint is received, the matter will be investigated seriously and necessary legal action will be taken.
