The driver and four others from a family of Baliadanga village in Jhikargachha, Jessore, lost their lives on the spot. Two more children were injured. The accident occurred on the way home with their son, who had returned from Malaysia.
The deceased are Arif Islam, a Malaysian expatriate, his mother Nurjahan Begum, brother Rakib, sister Aisha Begum and driver Zahid. Two children, Ashraful and Tashfia, were seriously injured in the incident and are fighting for their lives in the hospital.
The deceased Arif’s maternal uncle Nazrul Islam said, Arif had been abroad for 11 years. He landed at the airport on Monday night. His mother Nurjahan Begum and her children, grandchildren went to get him. Four members of the same family died on the way back. There is no one in the family except the father.
Neighbor Jahangir Alam said, Ariful Islam went abroad at the age of 18. His family was poor. Now they have a happy family. When they were about to enjoy happiness, four members of the family left.

He also said, “They have no land except their house. Therefore, they will be buried in my family cemetery.”
In this regard, SI Nur Alam of Shibchar Highway Police Station said that a private car heading to Jessore entered behind a truck filled with gas parked at Malig&ram bus stand. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Their bodies will be handed over to the family after the autopsy.
