Zia’s 45th martyrdom anniversary observed in Brahmanbaria, prayers and food distribution
On the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of martyred President and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, a Milad, Doa Mahfil and food distribution program among the poor were organized by Brahmanbaria District BNP. On the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of martyred President and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, a Milad, Doa Mahfil and food distribution program among the poor were organized by Brahmanbaria District BNP.
The event was organized by the District BNP and its affiliate organizations at the Brahmanbaria Municipal Community Center on Saturday (May 30) at 10 am.
At the beginning of the program, the Holy Quran was recited and prayers were offered for the eternal peace of the departed soul of President Ziaur Rahman. Later, food items were distributed among the helpless and destitute people of Wards 1 to 12 of Brahmanbaria Municipality. A large number of leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliates and local dignitaries were present in the program.
Brahmanbaria District BNP President Engineer Khaled Hossain Mahmub Shyamol, reserved women’s seat MP Nadia Pathan Papon, District Council Administrator Alhaj Sirajul Islam Siraj, District BNP Vice President Advocate Shafiqul Islam, Advocate Golam Sarwar Khokon, Vice Presidents ABM Mominul Haque, Anisur Rahman Manju and others were present as the chief guests at the event.
The program was hosted by District BNP Joint General Secretary Ali Azam.
In his speech as the chief guest, Engineer Khaled Hossain Mahmub Shyamal said that BNP leaders and activists have struggled for a long time in the movement to restore democracy in the country and establish people’s voting rights.
He said that during the previous government, various types of pressure, lawsuits and torture were inflicted on opposition political parties. Despite those adverse circumstances, BNP leaders and activists continued their movement for democracy.
He further said that martyred President Ziaur Rahman was a patriotic statesman who took charge of the country during the critical period after independence and laid the foundation for development and production-oriented politics. He took various effective steps to strengthen agriculture, education, infrastructure development and rural economy. He also mentioned that the nation will remember with gratitude the contribution of Ziaur Rahman and his family at every critical juncture of the country.
The speakers said that Ziaur Rahman was not just a political leader, he was a brave soldier to protect the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh. His ideals, actions and philosophy of state governance are still a source of inspiration for millions of people in the country. They said that by embracing the ideals of the martyred president, BNP leaders and activists will continue the movement to establish democracy, human rights and people’s rights in the country.
Various leaders of the district BNP and its affiliates also spoke at the event. They highlighted various aspects of the political life of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, his contribution to the Liberation War, and his role in the development of the country.
Later, a Milad Mahfil and special prayers were held. In the prayers, the souls of martyred President Ziaur Rahman were prayed for peace, prosperity and welfare of the country and the nation. At the end of the program, the guests distributed food items to the helpless and poor people present.
