The District Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested Jessore’s much-discussed top terrorist Kamrul Islam alias ‘Khora Kamrul’. He was arrested in a special operation based on information obtained during the investigation of a weapons case.
The arrested person is Kamrul Islam, son of the deceased Aziz of Kholadanga area of ​​Jessore Sadar Upazila. Additional Superintendent of Police Mirajul Islam gave this information through a press release at the Jessore Police Superintendent’s office on Sunday afternoon.
He further said that there are multiple serious criminal cases against Kamrul Islam. There are 1 murder case, 6 weapons cases, 4 explosive cases, 7 other cases including extortion, 1 case under the Special Powers Act and 1 drug case against him. In total, a total of 20 cases are pending against him.
According to DB sources, two accused arrested in a weapons case of Jessore Kotwali Police Station gave confessional statements in the court. In that statement, information was found that Kamrul Islam was involved in the purchase and sale of foreign pistols, magazines and bullets. Based on this information, a special operation was conducted under the leadership of SI Salauddin Khan and SI Babla Das of the District Intelligence Branch.
He was arrested in a raid at around 3 pm on Saturday from a rented house in the city’s Missionpara area.
During initial interrogation, police said that Kamrul Islam had been working as a supplier of weapons and explosives for a long time. In addition, information has been found about his involvement in illegal arms trading in Jessore city and its surrounding areas.
