A discussion meeting and special prayer mahfil were held in Muktagachha, Mymensingh, to mark the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman (Bir Uttam), the great proclaimer of independence, advocate of multi-party democracy, and former President. A discussion meeting and special prayer mahfil were held in Muktagachha, Mymensingh, to mark the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman (Bir Uttam), the great proclaimer of independence, advocate of multi-party democracy, and former President.

The program was organized on Saturday (May 30) by the Muktagachha Upazila and Municipal BNP and the party’s organs and associate organizations. The program discussed in detail the colorful working life of Shaheed Zia, his contribution to the freedom struggle and his role in building the country. Mymensingh-5 (Muktagachha) MP Md. Zakir Hossain Bablu spoke as the chief guest at the event. Former MP Advocate Rezaul Haque Bablu, former municipal mayor and municipal BNP president Md. Shahidul Islam Shahid, principal Ekhlasur Rahman Jewel, Zakaria Harun, Md. Kamruzzaman Lebu, ATM Elias and Professor Enayet Hossain were present as special guests.

The meeting was presided over by Muktagachha Upazila BNP convener Md. Habibur Rahman Khan Ratan.

The speakers said that martyred President Ziaur Rahman played an important role in protecting the country’s independence, sovereignty and establishing democracy. They mentioned that his ideals and patriotism will remain exemplary for the new generation.

People from different classes and professions, including leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations, participated in the event.
