As part of the government’s five-year 250 million tree plantation program to implement its election pledge, a district-wide tree plantation program funded by Brahmanbaria Zilla Parishad has been inaugurated. The program was organized at Dak Bungalow and Kollapathar Shaheed Samadhisthal in Kasba Upazila on Wednesday. Brahmanbaria Zilla Parishad Administrator and District BNP General Secretary Sirajul Islam Siraj was present as the chief guest at the program.

At the time, he said, there is no alternative to massive tree plantation to maintain environmental balance and build a green Bangladesh for the next generation. The District Council is working tirelessly to implement the government’s announced programs. The event was presided over by the Chief Executive Officer (Acting) of the District Council, Md. Abdul Qadir Mia. VP Tajul Islam, local public representatives, political leaders, administration officials, members of social organizations and people from different classes and professions were also present. Later, saplings of different species of trees were planted at the Dak Bungalow and Kollapathar Shaheed Samadhisthal. At the same time, visits, prayers and prayers were held at the graves of the Bir Shrestha martyrs.

The organizers said that this tree plantation program will be conducted in phases in different upazilas of the district with the aim of environmental conservation and greening.
