2 killed in covered van-auto rickshaw collision in Gaibandh
Two people, including the auto driver, were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a covered van and an auto rickshaw in Gaibandha. The accident occurred in the Thakurdighi area of the Gaibandha-Dariapur regional road in Sadar Upazila on Tuesday (May 19) morning. Police and locals said that a pickup van used for transporting chickens was coming from Gaibandha town towards Dariapur in the morning when it collided head-on with a battery-powered auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction. The accident occurred in the Thakurdighi area of the Gaibandha-Dariapur regional road in Sadar Upazila on Tuesday (May 19) morning.

Abdur Razzak (30) was killed on the spot. Autorickshaw driver Farid Mia (47) was taken to Gaibandha General Hospital in critical condition, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The deceased were Farid Mia, son of Abul Basar of Sreepur area of Sundarganj upazila, and Abdur Razzak, son of Masudur Rahman Dorji of Analertari village of Kholahati union of Sadar upazila.
One of the injured has been sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. The names and identities of the other injured were not immediately known.
Gaibandha Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the incident.
