Auspicious inauguration of Boro paddy and rice procurement in Kalai
The official inauguration of paddy and rice procurement at the government food warehouse in Kalai Upazila of Joypurhat during the current Boro season has been held. The program was inaugurated today, Monday (May 18) at 4 pm at the Upazila Food Warehouse. The program was inaugurated today, Monday (May 18) at 4 pm at the Upazila Food Warehouse.
Also present at the time were Upazila Food Controller Humayun Ahmed, Upazila Food Inspector and Officer-in-Charge Apurba Raihan Chanchal, Upazila BNP Convener Ibrahim Hossain, Upazila BNP Joint Convener Moudud Alam, Rice Mill Owners Association President Abdul Aziz Akand, General Secretary Humayun Kabir Talukder, Upazila Agriculture Officer Harunur Rashid, Enamul Haque Officer-in-Charge Molamgari L SD, Upazila Former Bhai Chairman Golam Mostafa, Chatal Owner Abdul Mannan, Abul Khair and Chatal Traders along with many others were present.
This time, the government has set the price of Boro paddy at 36 taka per kilogram and rice at 49 taka per kilogram.
Kalai Upazila Food Inspector and Officer-in-Charge Apurba Raihan Chanchal said that during the Boro season, Kalai Food Godown will collect 5,269 MT of rice and 1,185 MT of paddy and 324 MT of Atab rice. This official paddy and rice procurement program will continue until August 31, 2026.
