RAB-9 has arrested 5 members of a gang of robbers with country-made weapons in connection with an organized attack on RAB members in Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria. They were arrested during a raid in Khagatua area of ​​Ratanpur union of Nabinagar upazila at around 5:30 am on Tuesday (May 12). During this, 1 ramda, 1 knife and 2 iron rods used in the attack were recovered.

The arrested are Abdul Kader (62), Md. Rahim (20), Abdur Rahman Apu Mia (18), Md. Nur Alam (16) and Chanowara (48). All of them live in Khagatua village of Nabinagar.

RAB said that on May 11, around 4 pm, when an intelligence team of RAB-9’s CPC-1, Brahmanbaria reached Khagatua Baliara area on its way to Bancharampur via Nabinagar for information gathering, Shafiq Dakat and his gang members stopped their motorcycle with country-made weapons and launched an ambush. At that time, even though the RAB members identified themselves, the attackers became even more angry and locked them in a house and beat them severely. Later, another RAB operation team, with the help of local villagers, rescued the trapped members and took them to Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex for treatment. Since the incident, RAB-9 has started intelligence activities to identify and arrest those involved. In continuation of this, five people involved in the attack were arrested in a raid conducted early Tuesday morning. RAB further said that the arrested people had been involved in crimes such as robbery, extortion, terrorist activities and obstructing the work of law enforcement agencies in the area for a long time. RAB said that legal action is under process against the arrested people.
