Child killed by inflating air into anus

A 9-year-old child was allegedly killed by inflating air into his anus at high speed in Palash Upazila of Narsingdi. The incident took place on Wednesday (May 6) morning at an autorickshaw garage in Gazaria Bazar of the upazila. The deceased child's name is Ramim. He is the son of businessman Ripon Mia of Gazaria Charkarardi village of Palash Upazila. A 9-year-old child was allegedly killed by inflating air into his anus at high speed in Palash Upazila of Narsingdi. The incident took place on Wednesday (May 6) morning at an autorickshaw garage in Gazaria Bazar of the upazila.
The deceased child’s name is Ramim. He is the son of businessman Ripon Mia of Gazaria Charkarardi village of Palash Upazila.
According to police and local sources, Ramim came to his grandfather Amjad Hossain’s shop in Gazaria Bazar around 9 am on Wednesday. At one point, he went to a battery-powered autorickshaw garage owned by Faisal Mia of the market. Eyewitnesses said that there, rickshaw driver Sabuj Mia, son of Lokman Mia of the same village, inflated air into Ramim’s anus ‘on the pretext of mischief’ through a machine for inflating the wheels of the rickshaw.
As a result, the child’s stomach swelled abnormally and he fell to the ground in pain.  Hearing his screams, the people around him quickly rescued him and took him to Narsingdi District Hospital. When his condition deteriorated there, the doctor sent him to Dhaka for better treatment. Later, he died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka around 4:15 pm.

Md. Rakib Askari, a doctor from the emergency department of Narsingdi District Hospital, said that due to the high-speed entry of air through the anus, a part of the child’s umbilical cord may have been punctured, causing internal bleeding. As a result, he was suffering from shortness of breath and severe stomach pain. After giving him first aid at the hospital, he was advised to be immediately transferred to Dhaka.
Palash Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahed Al Mamun said that when the child’s body was brought home in the evening, the police went to the spot. We are looking into the matter seriously. Further legal action will be taken after receiving a written complaint from the family. A special police operation is ongoing to arrest the accused Sabuj Mia.
