The Jessore District Jubo Dal held a press conference to protest against the publication of false and defamatory information in the name of its convener M. Tamal Ahmed and member secretary Ansarul Haque Rana in various media outlets.
At a press conference held at the Press Club in Jessore on Wednesday, District Jubo Dal Member Secretary Ansarul Haque Rana said in a written statement that during the previous government, the leaders and activists of the District Jubo Dal, despite being victims of various atrocities, attacks and lawsuits, stood by the country and the people through movement and struggle for a long time and accelerated the democratic movement. Later, the central committee reorganized the Jessore District Jubo Dal and assigned M. Tamal Ahmed as the convener and the member secretary.
He said that since taking charge, work has been underway to strengthen the organization by uniting leaders and activists at all levels of the Jubo Dal. However, a malicious group is systematically spreading propaganda to destroy the unity of the organization and damage the district BNP.
It was alleged at the press conference that recently a media outlet had published baseless and fabricated information against various leaders and activists of the Jubo Dal for their involvement in drug and animal smuggling. In addition, similar propaganda is being spread on social media using fake accounts.
Ansarul Haque Rana said, these allegations are completely false, fabricated and motivated. No leader or activist of Jubo Dal at any level is involved in these activities. He claimed, some ‘hit-and-run’ groups within the party, expelled leaders and activists and their associates are spreading these propaganda out of jealousy due to their long-term active participation in the movement and struggle.
He further said that in the last 17 years, the leaders and activists have suffered personal and family losses due to the movement and struggle. Due to the publication of false news, they are suffering extreme social and mental damage and the dedicated workers of the party are also suffering from depression.
At the press conference, he called on journalists to help make the organization more dynamic and stronger by verifying the truth of these allegations and publishing objective news.
District Jubo Dal joint convener Kabir Hossain Babu, Professor Aminur Rahman Madhu, Ariful Islam, City Jubo Dal member secretary Sheikh Rabiul Islam Robi, Sadar Upazila Jubo Dal joint convener Tanvir Raihan Tuhin, Jubo Dal leaders Zakir Hossain Dulu, Saidur Rahman Bipul and other leaders were present at the time.
