The family members of BNP leader and businessman Alamgir Hossain, who was shot dead by terrorists in Shankarpur, Jessore town, have claimed that they are suffering from extreme insecurity. This fear has increased after the main accused in the case and the deceased’s son-in-law, Based Ali Parash, and another accused, Asabul Islam Sagar, were released on bail.
The family of the deceased announced this life-threatening situation at a press conference organized at the Press Club Jessore on Tuesday (May 5) afternoon.
At the press conference, the deceased’s wife Shamima Begum said in a written statement that her husband Alamgir Hossain was the joint general secretary of the BNP’s seventh ward of Jessore Municipality and the owner of Greenland Properties.
On the evening of January 3 this year, he was shot dead by terrorists on Shankarpur Ishaq Road while returning home from a business. After a case was registered in the incident, the police arrested several people including Baseed Ali Parash and Asabul Islam Sagar.
Shamima Begum alleged that the main accused Parash has been threatening the family members of the deceased in various ways since his release on bail on April 30. It was mentioned in the press conference that when the matter was reported to the investigating officer of the case, District Detective Branch (DB) Sub-Inspector Alok Kumar Dey, he asked her to file a complaint with the police station after a week.
In response to a question about who is threatening us and how, Shamima Begum said, “Even without a direct call or message, I can hear from people that the accused will cause us great harm and force us to leave the area. We are currently living in extreme insecurity and fear for our lives.”
At the press conference, the family members of the deceased demanded a fair trial and exemplary punishment for the murder of Abile Alamgir Hossain. At the same time, they appealed to the administration to ensure their safety.
Among others present at the press conference were the deceased’s daughter Ilara Khatun Ratri, uncle Enamul Haque and Tabibur Rahman, as well as some residents of the Shankarpur area.
