Devotees are busy at the wish-fulfillment fair with the hope that their wishes will be fulfilled. This wish-fulfillment fair has started from the first day of Baishakh at Mirer Bagan in Dariapur, Gaibandha Sadar Upazila. It will continue till the 30th of Baishakh.

The fair grounds are now bustling with thousands of devotees, both men and women, who have come from far and wide to the shrines of the Three Aulis in the hope of fulfilling their vows or wishes.

Some are lighting a fire in the stove, some are busy cooking khichuri for vows, while others are visiting the shrine. Devotees are busy preparing Tabarak ˆtari to fulfill their wishes throughout the fair. Devotees believe that this will remove all diseases and any kind of problems. If women who are unable to have children make a vow here, they will be able to have children, the problems of the whole year will be removed, the life ahead will be happy, and they will be successful in family and work.

With such faith, thousands of people of different religions from different parts of the country have been gathering at this fair every day since the first day of Baishakh in the hope of fulfilling their vows or wishes.

Those who come here with a wish bring rice, lentils, chicken, meat, firewood and other cooking utensils from their homes to the fair as a vow. A temporary stove is built at the fair and Khichuri is cooked as a vow. After that, the cooked Khichuri is distributed among the poor and many eat it themselves or take it home as a gift. Many also come to this fair with their families outside of their vows.

Rokhsana Begum, a housewife from Malibari in Sadar, said, “I had no children. I got a child after making a vow at the fair, so I am bringing Tabarak.”

Sonali Begum, another housewife from Pirganj, Rangpur, said, “I had made a vow to have two daughters and a son. I wanted to bring him to the fair if I had a son. My wish has come true, I came to the fair with my son in my arms.”

Nazrul Islam, who came to the fair from Saghata, said that people come to the fair with various desires. Many come to visit outside of their desires and to cook khichuri with their families and have a picnic.

A village fair is being held in front of the shrine and mosque and on both sides of the area of ​​about 4 acres. Shopkeepers have set up stalls selling various products including handicrafts. There are various sweets, jilapi, cosmetics, clay toys. People of different ages are thronging the fair.

Shah & Sultan Gazi Jame Mosque’s chief Khadem Qari Md. Ali Ashrafi said that the Motwali and Khadem of the shrine said that this fair has been going on for more than 200 years. People come of their own free will and pray for the fulfillment of their desires. This fair has been going on every year during the month of Basakh for about 200 years and this mosque and shrine were built a few hundred years ago. This shrine contains the graves of historical Pir Shah Sultan Gazi, Mir Mosharraf Hossain and Ibn Sharfuddin Shah.
